Snap2Txt is a free OCR (Optical Character Recognition) tool. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle — or rather, don't handle — your data.

2. Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

  • Your images are sent securely to our AI OCR engine for processing and are never stored after the result is returned
  • Your extracted text is never stored or logged on our servers
  • We do not use cookies for tracking
  • We do not collect IP addresses, device info, or browsing behavior
  • No analytics data is collected beyond basic page views (via Vercel Analytics)

3. How It Works

Snap2Txt uses an AI-powered OCR engine running on our secure server. When you upload an image:

  1. Your image is securely transmitted to our OCR API (api.snap2txt.com)
  2. The AI engine extracts text from the image
  3. The extracted text is returned to you and displayed in your browser
  4. The image is immediately deleted from server memory after processing — nothing is persisted

Image preprocessing options (grayscale, contrast, sharpening, binarization) are applied locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API before sending to the OCR engine.

4. Third-Party Services

Snap2Txt uses the following third-party services:

  • PaddleOCR — Open-source AI OCR engine, runs on our secure server for text recognition
  • Vercel — Hosting platform for serving the website
  • Vercel Analytics — Aggregate, non-personal page view analytics
  • Cloudflare — DNS and secure tunnel for API communication

Images are processed by PaddleOCR and immediately discarded. No third party retains your images or extracted text.

5. Image Preprocessing

When you enable image preprocessing options (grayscale, contrast, sharpening, binarization), all preprocessing is done locally in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Only the preprocessed image is sent to the OCR engine.

6. Children's Privacy

Since we collect no personal data, our service is safe for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. If we ever change our data practices, we will update this policy accordingly.
